Invitation for Collaborative New Product/ Service Development

Do you see many challenges in your business or industry that can be fixed by software or technology? Are these challenges applicable across the whole industry? Would you like to work with a team of technology postgraduates with mentor support and attempt to address critical or important industry wide issues, with a view to developing new products or service businesses?

Then this request for expression of interest could be of interest to you!

The MBS in Business Information Systems (BIS), now entering its fifth year, is a one year taught masters for technology graduates. The programme has a very strong track record in Student Enterprise Awards, with national level wins every year Link.  The graduate teams are required to develop innovative technology businesses and working on real-world problems greatly enhances their learning experience.  The programme has delivered a number of products to collaborating companies via Innovation Vouchers, with one start-up, which develops Radio Frequency ID (RFID) solutions.

The programme staff and industry mentors are issuing an open invitation to individuals and companies to share 'Big Needs'.  This confidential request will give the proposer constructive feedback on the commercial potential of their proposal.  If the proposal is suitable as a postgraduate project, the graduate teams will produce a working prototype, market validation, a business plan, with considerable input from the postgraduate team, academic staff and industry mentors.  This invitation is a collaboration, as the proposers of accepted project will be involved in the development and any future exploitation.  The development agencies such as the Enterprise Boards are included in order to support any commercial exploitation.

The Expression of Interest Form is available here and please return before 9th October 2008.
